Beautiful — Collider Project

THE RECORD

Beautiful

Ten songs moving through intimacy, darkness, humour, loss, uncertainty and the world beyond us — different musical worlds connected by the same Collider Project identity.

The music changes shape from song to song because that freedom is part of Collider Project. Melody, rhythm, voices, acoustic instruments and technology can all take different roles; sometimes the arrangements build, sometimes they leave space. The song decides what it needs.

Christian wrote the songs, sang the lead and backing vocals, played the instruments, arranged the music and took the recordings from first idea through mixing and mastering.

THE TITLE TRACK

Beautiful

Darkness and fear — and the possibility that something beautiful can still emerge.

Beautiful arrived quickly, flowing out in one evening. It is one of those songs where the atmosphere and the words seem to find each other before there is time to overthink them.

The song moves through incompleteness, fear and walls that need to be broken, while holding onto the possibility of beauty beyond them. Christian returned to it the following morning and found that the feeling was still there.

SONGS

Track by track.

Every song has its own reason to exist.

01

Only For You

With its warm, 1960s Motown-inspired feel, Only For You explores devotion, encouragement and the desire to become the best version of yourself. Its soulful musical character carries a lyric that gradually questions what we can realistically give one another, balancing optimism with the complexities of relationships.

02

Measure of the Man

A sharply observed, energetic song that begins with individual behaviour before widening into a critique of greed, politics, media and society itself. Its direct musical approach, lyrical momentum and healthy dose of sarcasm keep the argument gathering pace — right up to the bombshell it drops at the end.

03

Beautiful

An uplifting song about refusing to let fear define who we are. Beginning with uncertainty and darker thoughts, its arrangement gradually opens into something more expansive and optimistic, with the music reinforcing a message of hope, possibility and the courage to recognise our own worth.

04

One Step Away

Bright, immediate melodies meet biting anger and distinctly dark humour. The contrast between the accessible, energetic music and the threatening humour of the lyrics gives the song much of its personality — a reminder that an enjoyable tune doesn't necessarily have to say something pleasant.

05

Go There

A tender, tuneful reflection on loss, memory and the hope of meeting again. Its restrained arrangement allows the emotion to unfold naturally, finding warmth and reassurance in a subject that might otherwise seem overwhelmingly sad. A song whose musical gentleness is central to its emotional impact.

06

Do You Know You

An uptempo, tuneful song about relationships, misunderstandings and the contradictions of human behaviour. Two people get along better than ever, yet remain apart. Its infectious musical character contrasts with the frustration beneath the words, raising questions about how well we really understand ourselves — and each other.

07

No Justice

A moving reflection on loss, mortality and life's fundamental unfairness, carried by music that offers warmth rather than unrelenting sadness. Its flowing arrangement and instrumental breathing space allow the emotional message to emerge naturally, giving the song a reflective quality without overwhelming the listener.

08

The Blame

A direct, catchy song with a blunt lyrical edge and flashes of humour. Its accessible musical character carries an increasingly pointed observation about our reluctance to accept responsibility, moving from personal failings towards selfishness, indifference and the habit of seeing only what suits us.

09

Everywhere I Go

An emotionally charged song about someone who stubbornly remains in your thoughts long after a relationship has ended. The music carries the journey from tender recollection through anger and betrayal towards release, as repeated accusations gradually become a declaration of independence.

10

Cut and Shut

A rhythmically and melodically engaging song whose outrageous imagery disguises a surprisingly affectionate message. Beneath the dark humour lies a simple idea: the world may be chaotic, dangerous and impossible to understand, but having someone beside you makes it possible to keep going.
